 Love Shellac, but not this color Nov 17, 2010

I absolutely love the shellac system. It delievers everything it promises.
However, this color is a bit misleading. The bottle looks like it has a lavendar hue - it doesn't. It is a pearl pink. Also, the CND site says to layer it over fedora for a khakish gray color (which i would love) but that doesn't work because the shimmer of this color is streaky over the fedora since it is just one layer of it and 2 layers would cover the fedora too much. But if you would like a pearl pink, this works well.

Great pale/pearly pink color. The Shellac system is a revolution in nail care. Won't chip, crack, split for at least a week! Get all the right equipment, and check the Shellac website for do it at home perfect manicures that last forever!

As stated by another reviewer the color is not the same as the bottle. It's a super pale pearly/frosted pink. Kind of old lady-ish. i thought it would be more sheer for a french manicure look. With two coats it is very opaque. With one coat it was too streaky. I will try to do one coat again and see if I can get it less streaky if I apply it super sheer. The Shellac system is great, just not this color. You do need the Shellac base coat, top coat and a 36 watt drying lamp to use.

I've had acrylic/solar nails for years but could no longer justify the time and expense of the salon. I heard about Shellac and researched it on the internet. Then I went to the salon and got my first Shellac manicure and was hooked! Lasted over 2 weeks and only took it off due to nail growth. I went right onto Amazon and purchased base & top coats and a color. Along with the UV light purchase, some Acetone and some rubbing alcohol and I was set. My first time doing my own worked just great and taking it off is easy too! PLEASE research the Shellac SYSTEM before you just buy a color!!! You can't use this stuff like regular polish, it's not! Use the system and you are fine. (By the way, you don't need an expensive light just one with the same wattage and a timer will do great!)

Strawberry smoothie is a keeper. Unlike some of the other light pinks (Beau, Negligee) it is not see through. It's a beautiful shade of pink that goes well with any shade of skin since I have yellow undertones and it still flatters. Shellac stays on even if you have your hands in hot soapy water all day cleaning. Will last probably 3-4 weeks if your nails grow slowly.
