Another excellent CJ Condish, but for strict CG-ers, beware of Amodimethicone, k? Jul 15, 2010
By Mir I find that I like this one better for summer than the Smoothing Condish. I have fine (and thinning) hair, so this formula feels lighter, yet slippier to me than the CA Smoothing. I like the scent (a sort of citrusy-gingery one that's not too sweet or cloying). It detangles beautifully and doesn't weigh my thin hair down, yet moisturizes. The little bit of 'cone (amodimethicone) will only concern the strict CG-ers who only cowash. I lowpoo and nopoo (cowash), so I don't worry about a small bit of a less-hardcore cone. In fact, I think it helps with the summer frizz a tad.
There isn't a single bad condish in the Curl Junkie line--and one will surely suit your hair better than another, or one scent suit your aesthetics better than another. (I really dislike the gardenia scent, personally, in some CJ products, but the fruity ones are really nice, and I don't skew towards fruity scents. I like musky and floral/herbal ones.)
This is a quality, natural-products heavy curly hair line, and I suspect non-curlies would benefit from the richness of the moisturizers and good ingredients.
I will say that the "hole" in the condish line seems to be one for fine-haired, protein-loving heads of hair. My hair likes protein, and moreso in summer, and none of the rinse-outs are protein type condishes (although the CurlFix , which I consider more a treatment than a rinse out, and have even used a bit as a leave-in, is the CJ protein go-to and one I add to other CJ deep condishes for the protein-punch). But, knowing the curl-loving heart of this line's creator, I suspect that though Curl Theory (the condish with some protein for rinse/outs) is discontinued, we'll see a quality rinse-out with protein for fine-haired ladies coming in future. I'm not sure, but this one may be discontinued, too. So, I've been stocking up, just in case.
Oh, and don't be put off by the cutesy name. This is a solid hair line for textured hair. I'm a 3a/3b with dry, porous hair, and nothing helped me get to a moisturized state better than the CJ line of products. (Although I have to go to Joico K-pak line for my hardcore protein.) I've used almost every condish in this line and all the poos, and these are excellent. If you never heard of Curl Junkie, visit CurlTalk, the best forum for naturally curly-haired folks, and read the posts/reviews about it. That's where I first heard about it and risked trying...with happy results.
Happy curls to you.
