disappointed Jan 21, 2010
By Erika Porter This product was not made for African-American hair type 4b. I realized after receiving it that it's targeted for bi-racial hair types. I'm sure it's a great product but it did not do anything for my hair.

Dried out my hair Aug 17, 2011
By kfs Somebody suggested that I try this product instead of the Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner that I was using. I gave it a try, but feel that it was a complete waste of money. I thought maybe the first day that it was just a bad hair day, but the next time I tried it I actually had to wash my hair again to get it out so that I could get the tangles out of my hair. It made my curls frizz up and feel bad. I wrote in to the company to give product feedback and got a very rude email back from them.

Turned my soft curly hair into a brillo pad Mar 18, 2011
By Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01 I wanted to like this product. I usually use an organic sulfate free shampoo followed by Curls Coconut Sublime Conditioner then Curls Curl Souffle Medium Curl Styling Cream and I get great results. After 3 days my 3b/c hair always looks like day 1 with no intervention.
I used water to refresh on day 4 and it got dry so I tried Suave Kids Detangling spray and it worked fine. But I wanted to stick with a curl refresher that is organic fits the curly girl method. So I tried Curls Quench.
To be sure I knew what I was doing I read the ingredients, went to the Curls website watched the demonstration videos on how to apply the product and followed their directions to the letter. I got curls shampoo from my best friend(she gets the big one so she gave me some from her stash). I used the Curls Curlicious Curls Cleansing Cream, followed by the Curls Coconut Sublime Conditioner, and the Curls Souffle then Curls Quenched Daily Leave In Moisturizer as directed.
This time my hair was not great. It dried out day 2 which was surprising given that I used a Curls Cleansing cream. Every day I needed almost a complete wet down with the Curls quenched. The sprayer is supposed to spray in a stream not in a mist so you wind up using more and this stuff goes fast. I had to saturate my hair so much during the week I used about six ounces of the 8oz bottle.
My hair felt gunky and then dried out like it does if I use an alcohol heavy drugstore brand gummy gel. I had residue on my satin pillowcase and every morning my hair was very dry. Finally on day 6 I decided to go back to my original line up.
I washed my hair with my shampoo and followed with Curls Coconut Sublime and Curls Souffle and got great results again. My friend wanted to try Curls Quenched and she has a different hair texture and after I told her about my results she asked to try the Curls Quenched. We have tried products together before that worked for only one of us so I passed the remaining 2oz on to her, it saved her from ordering a sample kit for this one product.
This product may work well for someone but for my 3b/c hair all it did was cost me a lot of money and turn my head into a dry brillo pad; it was NOT pretty.

Not for this Natural Woman.... Aug 29, 2010
By Veronica Williams
"Shy Gal"
I have thick, 4b-4c hair with an S-pattern. It's curly in the back (meaning curls stay put for a long time) and towards the top, it's a bit more dry and poofy (meaning curls can go bye-bye very fast). I'm searching for leave-in products that enhance my curl and KEEP it there, moisturized. I thought this was it. Well, it smells good, kept my hair SOMEWHAT moist, but did not do the full job. It made my hair feel a bit...sticky. Almost like someone spilled some kind of sugarwater in my hair or if I got a drink sprayed at me. I wasn't too fond of the coverage, either. It sprayed like a bottle of spritz instead of a mist. Even when I put water in it, it still had that...sorta thick thing going on when I sprayed it out of another bottle.
For something that costs so much, I sort of expected more from it. What this reminded me of was a slightly better version of Kinky-Curly's curl spray. I've tried THAT and went to this, thinking there was a vast difference. I was fooled. Maybe this will work on other's hair. It was not the item for me. I'm not sure what to do with it, other than just give it to someone else or toss it out. I'd rather not do that. All in all, this did NOT control my frizz. It did not moisturize my hair completely. It did a partial job.
No thanks.
