This Iron is HOT - Baby! Mar 31, 2008

This curling iron does a great job - heats up quickly and curls fabulously. I'm not a professional hairdresser, so the handle took some getting used to. Now that I'm well practiced at handling it, it is actually easier to use than the conventional "springed" curling iron clamp.
Be careful with the tip, another difference between the old curling irons and this one is that it doesn't have a protective, cool tip so ear burning is at high risk. I've burned my right ear twice. I don't even consider my ears to be big :-) A great product - your hair needs this!

Can't get used to this type of handle Jan 12, 2008

If you are used to the "typical" type of handle on a curling iron, you will be easily frustrated with this model. It takes me twice as long to do my hair. I also hate that there is no way to hold the tip of the iron without burning yourself.
Really great curling iron and terrific seller! Sep 11, 2011
By aninterestinglife First of all, I want to say this seller is wonderful and shipping was very fast. They also included a couple of small but handy free gifts which, combined with the low price of the curling irons (much less even than an ineffective drugstore iron), made the purchase very cost effective. Now, these curling irons are a joy to use! I bought both the 1 3/4 inch and the 3/4 inch sizes. After a very short learning curve, because the way the handle opens and closes is opposite the standard, but is very natural once you realize and become accustomed to the action, this curling iron is a joy to use. The handles are not loose but rather are made to spin so that the curling iron twirls the hair onto the barrel quickly like a magic trick with just a spin of the loose part of the handle with your thumb! Such fun! The barrel does get very hot and I did burn my hand a couple of times the first time I used it, but I am very clumsy and terribly uncoordinated, so I did expect it. I would not recommend this iron for a very young person because it does get so hot, but unlike my Herstyler Baby Curls Wand, which was my previous favorite, it makes very soft, shining curls with no frizz at all. If you want soft curls with no frizz, try these curling irons, they are a really professional tool for an extremely reasonable price. Also, they are a very effective straightening tool as well! Just draw your hair down through the tool without twirling it. Silky straight hair!
After 1.5 yrs, still loving it! Dec 12, 2010

I bought this curling iron on Amazon about a year and a half ago, and still have great things to say. It took about a week of regular use for me to get used to the handle, and now I can't imagine using any other type. I have medium-long hair, and I suspect that it probably helps to have some length with this kind of curling iron. I highly recommend this curling iron if you are looking for a curling iron that can manage the same level of performance as the well known and respected Chi straightener -- this is an exceptional tool.

If you know how to handle, or are willing to learn how to handle, a professional curling iron, this one is awesome. My only caution, is that it get's very hot, so start at the lowest setting and work your way up from there.
