Good product but a tad expensive for the sizes Feb 13, 2011
By Scott Anderson
"Sharpsburg"
My wife really enjoyed these products and the feel and texture while using these right after coloring were awesome! The harsh winter weather usually played havoc with my wife's hair but these combined products really helped her look her best and feel her best this past month.
She has dry hair and it really soaked up the conditioner and mask to give her a wonderful less frizzy feeling and look, accompanied by a nice light fruity scent that lingered after the wash and rinse.
All three products put together really made a difference but not enough to justify the cost for the size and amount of product. There are many other products on the market that will work just as well so my wife will more than likely purchase those less costly items and work within our budget. She would like to try them again if the price were to come down on the kit, but at this time the cost per wash it too high to justify the use.

I love this product! Dec 23, 2010
By God Lover I wish I had discovered Fekkai products a long time ago. My hair is dry, wavy, and slightly frizzy...it's acts up on me in humid weather. From the first time I used these wonderful products...my hair instantly behaved much better. The shampoo made my hair feel clean without feeling "stripped". I love the conditioner...it smooths my unruly waves quite nicely and smells divine (all of the products have a clean...sorta fruity fragrance). MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE WAS THE MASK...WHICH MY HAIR SOAKED UP LIKE A SPONGE. My hair is shiny, much less "fuzzy" and looks HEALTHY. All products together were not only very pleasant to use...my hair looks much less damaged. I have not noticed my color fading either(with the hard chlorinated water we have). I highly recommend these products for those with thick, ethnic, wavy/curly, frizzy hair. I am impressed with the results. My hair feels like it got a nice big drink of moisture. Great product for winter!

THE MASK ALONE IS WORTH IT! Dec 23, 2010

The "3-minute mask" portion of this kit is amazing. I have hair that is wayyyy over-processed thanks to a bad perm (left in too long) and bleached highlights from last year, plus it's going gray. Using the mask made an immediate difference in my hair. It suddenly was soft and baby smooth when it was rinsed. There were fewer frizzies noticeable and my hair was almost tame! It was much easier to style afterward.
It is impossible to test the "color fastness" of this product in sunlight, unless I were to cover half my head with something for a month or so, and spent lots of time in the sun so I could compare.
The shampoo is average. The conditioner is average- I still have to use a lot of it to cover my hair. The mask stuff is really good. I have been unable to find "masks" at the usual big box stores, so I consider this a real find!
The shampoo and conditioner bottles in this are only 4 ounces each. most "off the shelf" brands give you at least 3 or 4 times that amount. I've tried everything from the expensive Aveda and Paul Mitchel products to Suave and Pantene.
I love the mask though. It is thick- has to sort of be scooped out of the container when used. Instructions could have been a little more clear, as I didn't see any on the mask container itself- just the box.

Only Marginally Better Than Less Expensive Products... Jan 09, 2011
By delicateflower152 Have you ever wondered whether expensive salon-quality products are worth the extra cost? I have, but being somewhat frugal have never been able to convince myself to purchase them. When I had the opportunity to try the Fekkai Technician Color Care Starter Kit, I jumped at the chance.
In order to make a valid comparison, I began using these products four days after coloring my hair with Natural Instincts Golden Mahogany; I had washed my hair once using my regular shampoo and conditioner. Both my regularly used products are formulated for hair which has been colored; both products come in a green bottle and were purchased at a warehouse store. The cost for my regular products is approximately 20 cents per ounce; I use about 8 ounces of each in a month. Under normal conditions, I wash my hair daily; the color begins to "fade" after about two weeks, but does not appear as if it needs any touchups. It takes about five days before my hair feels really soft to the touch; nevertheless, it does not feel straw-like or artificial before that time.
The Fekkai shampoo took about two teaspoons of product per washing; at the best price available on Amazon, this is about $2.18 per ounce or ten times the cost of my regular shampoo. The Fekkai shampoo did not produce copious amounts of lather; it had a light, pleasant scent which did not cling to my hair when it was dried. This was particularly important as my spouse has severe allergies and would have had a negative reaction to a strongly perfumed product. The Fekkai conditioner also took about two teaspoons of product per use; its cost per ounce is the same as the Fekkai shampoo. The conditioner rinsed out cleanly and did not leave my hair with a coated feeling. Drying time and styling were no different using the Fekkai products than when I use my regular products. I did notice my hair had fewer "wispy" ends and my style was a bit smoother than when I used my regular hair products. The Fekkai products did not extend the life of my color any longer than my regular, more economical choices; fade-time was essentially identical. Irrespective of these two Fekkai products' positive aspects, I did not feel it was worth paying ten times as much for them as I pay for my regular shampoo and conditioner.
On the other hand, I was particularly interested in the 3-minute mask which is included in the Starter Kit. I have not previously found a deep conditioner that produces satisfactory results. I used the 3-minute mask twice a week, as suggested. I found it made a significant difference in my hair's feel and smoothness after styling; this was the one product in the starter kit that I felt was better than other similar products available to the consumer. The jar in the starter kit gave me 5 uses; at this rate, the 7 ounce container available on Amazon would yield about 25 treatments at a cost of $1.28 each.
In conclusion, the products in the Fekkai Technician Color Care Starter Kit are very good. However, only the 3-minute mask produces results which are significantly different from less expensive options and which warrant, in my opinion, paying a significantly higher price to attain.

Mostly great,room for improvement Mar 24, 2011

""the queen""
Hair products are subjective so what works well for me may not be the best solution for you. I held off for months before putting up my review. My initial reaction was, love, love, love, now after some time using it I'm really sold on 2/3 of this starter kit. The conditioner is thick and a little goes a long way (I have colored treated hair and i did find it prolonged the color from fading and dulling) and the scent is fresh and melon like. It leaves my hair full-bodied and soft. The mask treatment, used weekly is like a small piece of heaven, my hair is more manageable and the softness blows me away every time. The shampoo I initially liked but after a continual use (I did purchase the larger sizes) I began to find it very drying and stopped using it. The only other quibble and rather annoying if you're going to spring for the large sizes since they aren't inexpensive is the product is darn difficult to get out of the containers.
